Four carwash employees in the Los Angeles area have filed a lawsuit against their employers over missing overtime pay, among other things.

The lawsuit is one of a series filed on behalf of carwash workers since 2008 in an attempt by unions and immigrant advocates to improve conditions in an industry where competition is fierce, profit margins are low, and workers are often undocumented immigrants from Mexico and Central America.

In the lawsuit, the workers claim they were forced to arrive at work early, but were only paid once there were enough cars to wash. The suit is seeking class-action status.
